Per-Anders Mardh, we thank you for your generosity and your existence
Main Text
I met Dr. Per-Anders Mårdh, a brilliant physician and scientist, while reading the chapter on Chlamydia trachomatis in the book Sexually Transmitted Diseases, coordinated by Dr. King Holmes. It was 1982.
I watched him speak on the 2nd. World STD Congress, in Paris, 1986, event chaired by Dr. André Siboulet.
In 1989, I invited him to write an article on Chlamydia trachomatis for volume 1, number 1 of the scientific journal Jornal Brasileiro de DST, which we founded together with other colleagues.
Without any hesitation, this world-renowned physician and scientist accepted and gave us the honor of launching our scientific journal, now open on the internet.
His review article on Chlamydia trachomatis opened our journal and is available, free of charge, at https://www.bjstd.org/revista/issue/view/1.
In 1996 Professor Mårdh, as we called him, was one of the keynote speakers at our 1st. Brazilian STD Congress, in the Cidade Maravilhosa of Rio de Janeiro (RJ). How much honor! Even more honorable was having him back on the 2nd. Congress of the Brazilian Society of STD, in 1998.
Currently, Professor Mårdh is on a different “plane”. He is certainly with dear family members and dear old friends, and with many humans that he helped to reduce their suffering through his teachings (publications, conferences, etc.) for countless doctors worldwide.
Family and friends of Dr. Per-Anders Mårdh, these words are the least we can say to thank for all that Professor has done for the world of those working to combat sexually transmitted diseases.
